U.S.-Africa Trade Commission announces Ms. Victoria C. Silutongwe as new Country Director-Zambia
Atlanta, GA. USA. Monday June 03, 2024: The U.S-Africa Trade Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Victoria C. Silutongwe as the new Country Director for its operations in Zambia. In this role, Victoria will be responsible for leading the commission's efforts in Zambia to strengthen trade relations between the United States and Zambia, promote economic growth, and facilitate opportunities for bilateral trade.
With a wealth of experience in international trade and economic development, Victoria C. Silutongwe is well-equipped to drive the U.S-Africa Trade Commission's mission forward in Zambia. Silutongwe With over 20 years of experience in corporate governance and a strong background in various sectors, Ms. Silutongwe brings exceptional skills and leadership to this role.
Ms. Silutongwe is a certified trainer in corporate governance through the Global Corporate Governance Forum of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Institute of Directors of Zambia (IoDZ). Known for her clear communication, innovative thinking, and commitment to ethical practices, she has been a key figure in promoting good governance in Zambia.
Her journey with the IoDZ began in April 2003 as an Administrative Officer. Through dedication and hard work, she advanced to become the Executive Director, National Vice President, and ultimately the President of the Institute. Her leadership greatly increased the profile and influence of IoDZ.
Ms. Silutongwe has also worked in banking with Zambia National Commercial Bank and Standard Chartered Bank Plc, served as a Scientific Officer at the National Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, managed Rentokil Zambia Ltd., and led the Kayula Childhood Cancer Foundation. Currently, she is a Partner at ENVIS Consulting Limited, Operational Head at the African Corporate Governance Network (ACGN), Non-Executive Director for Mukuru Money Transfer Zambia Limited, and an Adjudicator for the Zambia Institute of Marketing Annual Awards. She also consults independently with IoDZ and Axxess Corporate Secretaries Ltd.
Her academic achievements include an MBA and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies from Cavendish University Zambia, a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Zambia (UNZA), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Lecturing Methodology from the University of Lusaka. She has served on various boards and committees in both private and public sectors.

Ms. Silutongwe’s appointment is a significant step for the U.S.-Africa Trade Commission’s goal to promote sustainable economic development and enhance trade relations between the U.S. and Zambia. Her leadership will create new opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Victoria will be working alongside, Dr. Elizabeth Lungu-Nkumbula, a virile member of the Board of Governors of the U.S.-Africa Trade Commission.
Dr. Lungu-Nkumbula is leading the mission to address the constraints and barriers that hinder trade and investment between our continents, identifying export markets for Zambian product lines in international markets, driving collaboration, innovation, and strategic partnerships, and building bridges that connect African businesses with American consumers, investors, and technology.
